In a reed bed, you don’t sleep… you drink!

Water treatments ponds are a completely natural way of treating waste sewage water. Instead of going through physic-chemical filtering and reactions, the water goes through filtering through the roots of reeds, as well as through some layers of gravels and stones.

The Company Reed Bed UAE fabricates and operates several facilities across the UAE. As a preparation to our next field trip, we visited one of these reed beds that is treating the water of the Kalba Wild Life Conservation Centre. This allowed us to discover at the same time an amazing wild life centre and an environmentally friendly water treatment facility.

We will soon, in collaboration with Reed Bed, be proposing trips to several water treatment ponds across the UAE. We will at the same time offer a kit: The children will be able to build their own portable water treatment plant!
