Sustainable Mobility and Transport
Mobility is one of the major challenges of our time. Shipping goods and consumables, mass tourism, daily commutes, leisure travels… The number of kilometers travelled every year is exponentially increasing. Transport has also become a major contributor to the overall air pollution, both in terms of greenhouse gasses emissions and public health.
This workshop offers an exploration of Middle Eastern cities with regards to their relation to transport and mobility through 3 case studies: Masdar City (Abu Dhabi).
Dubai (subject to permissions from Dubai municipality and RTA. The client might be involved in the requests.) Beirut.
We will discuss the relationship between climate change and transport, the concepts of mobility and micro mobility (walking, cycling, small electric vehicles, bus, metro), compare the energy efficiency or different means of transportation, and address the questions of urban planning and accessibility.
